Juan Carlos Villa is a researcher with thirty-five years of experience in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and other Latin American counties. For the past 16 years, Juan Carlos has been performing research in freight transportation, logistics and trade for the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), and currently is manager for Latin America, at TTI’s Mexico City office. Mr. Villa has led research projects for multiple U.S. governmental institutions at the national and state level including: the U.S. Federal highway Administration (FHWA), the Department of Home Land Security Centers for Excellence, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and all state departments of transportation at the U.S./Mexico border. Prior to joining TTI, Mr. Villa was Director General and founding partner of the Kinglsey Group in Mexico City; where he managed several multimodal cross-border trade projects, technical and financial feasibility studies for green field logistics centers, intermodal terminal networks, and inland ports. At TRB, he is the chair of the International Trade and Transportation Committee and member of the Freight Transportation Data and Freight Transportation Planning and Logistics committees. Mr. Villa serves as a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness, and is a Senior Associate (Non-resident) of the Americas Program for the U.S.-Mexico Futures Initiative at the Center for Strategic International and Studies (CSIS). |
