Yu, Bingxin

US Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration

Bingxin (Bing) Yu is an economist at the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) since 2015. She has more than 20 years of experience in empirical economic research, focusing on the impact of public investment on economic development. she is leading the research program Economic Impact Analysis to understand and measure the impact of transportation investment in economic performance, employment, and other socioeconomic aspects. Bing is a Coordinator of PIARC Technical Committee to lead activities on understanding economic and social contribution of road transport systems in different countries. She has served as a subject matter expert in reviewing USDOT and FHWA’s discretionary grants (INFRA, TIGER/BUILD, CHBP), TRB and technical documents. Bing is a contributor of Congressional reports “Status of the Nation’s Highways, Bridges and Transit: Condition and Performance”. Prior to FHWA, Bing was a Research Fellow at International Food Policy Research Institute to work on international development and poverty reduction. She has a MS in Statistics and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is active in the TRB Economics, Revenue, and Finance Committee.
