Dr. Ghim Ping Ong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He graduated with a B.Eng (First Class Honours) with a minor in Business from the National University of Singapore in 2003. He obtained his PhD in civil engineering from the National University of Singapore in 2007. Prior to his current appointment, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University from 2007 to 2008, and was appointed visiting assistant professor at Purdue in 2009. He has published over 100 technical papers in various journals and conferences in the areas of transport infrastructure engineering and management, transportation planning and policy, and international trade and transportation. He currently serves on various committees of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies, the America Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Testing and Materials, and the International Society of Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transport Infrastructures (iSMARTi). He has received several scientific awards in recognition to his research achievements, including the Alfred Noble Prize, the Hanjin Prize, and the Takeuchi Yoshio Award. |
