Gisela Rua is a Senior Economist in the Division of Research and Statistics of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. She works on the production of the Federal Reserve monthly indexes of industrial production and capacity utilization, and conducts forecasts and analysis of activity and slack for the industrial sector. This including a special focus on the motor-vehicle industry. She also contributes to the staff’s economic outlook that is sent to the Federal Open Market Committee prior to each meeting. Ms. Rua also maintains an active research agenda which she presents at various seminars and academic conferences. Her research focuses on topics in International Economics, Macroeconomics, and Economic History. In particular, she has studied the diffusion of containerization, containerization’s impact on economic activity, and the effectiveness of fiscal and monetary stimulus in depressions. Ms. Rua earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. |
