Showery, Aisa

International Trade and Border Planning Branch Manager for TxDOT’s Freight, Trade, and Connectivity Section

Aisa graduated from St. Edward’s University in May 2009 with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a B.A. in Public Relations, Social Media, and Advertising. She also received her M.A. in Crisis Communications and Campaigns in July 2012 from the University of Texas-Pan American and her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in December 2020.
She began her professional career as a Legislative Director and Campaign Manager for State Representative R.D. “Bobby” Guerra of McAllen, where she worked to implement legislation dedicated to enhancing regional economic development, strengthening international trade and e-commerce along the Texas-Mexico border, assisting the growth of small businesses, and meeting infrastructure needs. As the Marketing and Business Development Coordinator in the Economic Development and Tourism Division for the Office of the Texas Governor Greg Abbott, she led domestic and international trade missions and coordinated statewide small business and business recruitment and expansion conferences.  Her responsibilities required coordination among several entities, including the Office of Small Business Assistance, the State of Texas’ Mexico Office, the Texas Women’s Commission, the International and Business Development Office, and the State Infrastructure Bank.
Aisa started her career at TxDOT in 2018 in the Civil Rights Division and led several statewide and national communication and outreach activities while working for the Community and Business Engagement section. In addition to creating email campaigns and developing branding for CIV programs, Aisa played a significant role in the planning and execution of the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Civil Rights Training Symposium in 2019 with over 200 attendees, including representatives from state DOTs, FHWA, FAA, and industry partners.
